Experience Days Tours: Spend the day travelling back in time to the Roman era, when sandals were the only footwear in fashion. Picture the scene; the Romans have just invaded Britain and are on their way to take Caledonia (or modern day Scotland). Discover the landmarks they left behind as you walk across the stunning landscape of the Northumberland National Park, and along the famous Haydrian's Wall. The half day experience is led by your personal tour guide Venutius, an expert on all things Roman who's dedicated to creating the most immersive experience possible - and will even start the tour in full Roman authentic costume! Venutius belongs to the Brigantes Tribe and has lived through the Roman invasion, so he can tell you about life before their arrival, life during their 368 year ruling, and the purpose of building the wall. During this 1.5 mile tour you'll have stunning views across the moorland of the National Park, and you will even be able to see the defence ditch the Romans used which still remains today! This experience also includes entry to one of the local museums where you can find out more fun facts and expand your knowledge of the Roman era. This Roam with Romans Tour will last for approximately 4 hours, including a one and a half walk across the central sections of Haydrian's Wall.
