Arts and Crafts Experience Days: This evening glassblowing workshop will teach you the fundamentals of an art form that dates back thousands of years. Learn how to blow molten glass using a traditional blowing iron and tools—and once annealed and cooled you can collect your one-of-a-kind masterpiece, or choose to have it posted for a small fee!Classes are held at a creative glass studio in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. They’re led by an experienced artist and glassblower who’ll begin the session with a full safety briefing. Groups are kept small to ensure everyone receives plenty of one-to-one guidance throughout. Your instructor will introduce a variety of glassblowing tools before demonstrating how to gather molten glass from the furnace. Using the blowing iron, you’ll then learn how to glass blow and shape the molten glass into a sphere, paperweight or vase. You can also apply patterns and colours by rolling the blown glass over a selection of coloured powders and grits.
